The seriousness of life

Life can get a bit heavy at times. Not only are there bills to pay and theological questions to answer, but there are relationships to keep up with and books to read. To-do lists can escalate to the point where stress is normal and sleep is an odd thing.

During these moments it is best to do something utterly ridiculous and completely unproductive: Laugh. Be silly. Let go.

Even though nothing is getting crossed off or cleaned, your soul is getting fed. The growing pile of questions hasn’t vanished, but your heart is learning an age old truth about joy. There as many things to laugh about as there are to fret about. And all that worrying is likely just going to lead to more worrying.

So take a break. Enjoy silliness. It’s bound to do you (and your lists) some good.
